'If you want to have a hot summer, come to Calais!'

Foreign Office issues warning to tourists stuck in tailbacks in Calais

More than 200 workers from MyFerryLink burned tyres (inset right) on the main road leading to the tunnel and blocked the French port in a row over redundancy.
They were led by head of the Maritime Nord union Eric Vercoutre (inset left), who has vowed a summer-long campaign targeting holidaymakers. The action forced the Eurotunnel to close with Eurostar services between London St Pancras (main) and Paris and Brussels cancelled for the rest of the day, leaving thousands of travellers stranded.
