A passenger has died on board a transatlantic flight that diverted to Shannon Airport yesterday afternoon.
British Airways flight 274 was travelling from Las Vegas in the US to London’s Heathrow airport at the time.

Men of the Plateau State Police Command have arrested a 40-year-old man, Surulere Raphael, for cutting off his daughter’s finger on allegation that she stole his money.

Mr Raphael was paraded on Friday at the police headquarters alongside one Ponjue Domsing, who was alleged to have killed his father, Mr. Domsing, for not buying him a motorcycle as promised.

An Irish mum-of-two was shot dead today as gunmen launched a terrifying terror attack on a holiday hotspot.
Declan and Lorna Carty, from Robinstown, Co Meath, were on the trip in Soussewhen gunmen opened fire, killing up to 37 people.
Meath Fine Gael TD Ray Butler told how Mrs Carty, a nurse aged in her 50s, was a constituent of his and he was informed of her death at 2.30pm.
He then spoke to the woman's husband by phone.

The incident unfolded on Thursday, while the plane was flying from Delhi, India, to London, England.

Woman bites employee at Macy’s because price of purse was too high



A woman was arrested on a charge of assault after allegedly biting a department store employee because the price for an item she wanted to purchase was too high, police in new Jersey said.
Newark police said that they have arrested 42-year-old Anh Nguyen on Wednesday, after being accused of biting an employee at the Macy’s store located at the Newpark Mall around 8:30 p.m.

It means the 14 states with bans on same-sex marriage will no longer be able to enforce them.
Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote that the plaintiffs asked "for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right."
The ruling brings to an end more than a decade of bitter legal battles.

Decapitated man's head found 'covered in Arabic writing' and hung on a factory fence in France





The decapitated head of a man was found around 10am this morning hung on the fence of a gas and chemical factory in Saint-Quentin-Fallavier, near the city of Lyon, South East, France. The severed head was found about 30 feet away from the man's dead body which was covered in Arabic writing.

Authorities say a 10-year-old girl who was found unconscious last week after riding a roller coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Southern California has died at a hospital.

Coroner's Assistant Chief Ed Winter said Monday that Jasmine Martinez of Somis died Saturday at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles.
An autopsy will determine the cause of death.
