Health Workers Begin Nation Wide Strike Today in Nigeria

Health workers in the country will begin an indefinite strike today, Thursday, 16th of October, over sundry issues, including the unresolved leadership crisis in the health sector, non-commencement of residency trainingprogramme for health professionals, non-implementation of new call duty allowance and non-payment of arrears.

Nigeria National Team Coach, Steven Keshi Sacked


The Nigeria Football Federation has sacked the National Team Coach. Stephen Keshi was sacked early this morning despite the 3-1 win over Sudan yesterday. Keshi’s assistant coaches, Daniel Amokachi and Ike Shorunmu were also relieved of their positions.

Keshi, will now be replaced by Shaibu Amodu, a former coach of the team and he will be supported by Salisu Yusuf, Gbenga Ogunbote and Aloysius Agu. While Garba Lawal, will serve as the team ‘s coordinator.

The Commissioner of Police, Kwara State Command, Mr. Salihu Garba, on Wednesday said eight young men gang-raped a young lady (name withheld) who lives in Ilorin.
