Investigation launched after hospital patient was rescued from roof


The HSE is conducting an investigation after a patient at University Hospital Limerick had to be dramatically rescued from a second-story roof at the hospital on Sunday night.
The man, aged in his late 70s or early 80s, was discovered outside on the roof area, shortly after 11pm.
A source said the man, a patient at the hospital, had accessed the roof through a window.

Woman tells of 'hell on earth' at Limerick psychiatric unit

The HSE has said it is to investigate concerns raised by a well-known Limerick businesswoman after she experienced "hell on earth" in a psychiatric hospital unit in Limerick.
Last November, Leona O'Callaghan, 35, spent two months at the 5B Psychiatric Ward in University Hospital Limerick, which she described as a "violent" and "uncaring" place.
"The HSE need to hear the voice of the service users," the mother of three said.

Gardaí search for missing man John Moyles



Gardaí have asked for the public's help in finding missing man John Moyles.
The 23-year-old was last seen at 7pm yesterday in the Rahoon area of Galway.
He is described as being 5’ 7’’ tall with a brown bushy beard and a shaven head.
He is originally from Cavan. He normally wears a hat or cap.

Property prices rising outside Dublin in latest report



A new property report shows that house prices are growing significantly outside of Dublin.
The Daft.ie report for the second quarter shows the commuter counties around the capital are seeing some of the strongest growth.
Prices are up 23% in Meath and 18% in Kildare compared to one year ago. Counties Clare and Roscommon are both up 12%, while Cork City prices are up 12%.

Cake bakers fined $135,000 for not baking cake for lesbian couple


The Oregon Bureau of Labor and Industry (BOLI) told the owners of Sweet Cakes By Melissa, a bakery owned by Christians who refused to bake a cake for a lesbian wedding to be quiet and pay a fine.
On Friday the state ordered owners Aaron and Melissa Klein to pay $135,000 in damages to a lesbian couple they turned away in 2013.

We were not led by a woman: Ikorodu bank robbers


The Ikorodu bank robbery suspects that were paraded at the Lagos state Police command yesterday July 6th , said contrary to what many believed, no woman led their 18-man gang in the robbery attack they conducted on two banks in Ikorordu on June 24th.
The robbers,  Omoboye, alias Alarm blow39; Bright Agbojule, 25; Ikuesan, 37, and Abiwa, 20. during interrogation said some of their members were recruited from Warri, Delta state and that they planned the robbery incident in about 30 minutes.

Nigerian students detained in Malaysia over alleged N125.2m Internet fraud


A Malaysian court has ordered the detention of five Nigerian students in Malysia for their alleged involvement in a N125.2m (RM2.4 million) internet fraud in Selangor & Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

According to local media reports, the 5 Nigerian students who are between the ages of 20 and 30 are undergraduates pursuing a degree in Information Technology in a leading University Kuala Lumpur. They were arrested on June 30, 2015.
