Controversial new post-codes rolled out today

Ireland’s first national post-code service has been launched today amid criticism from industry and language figures who said it is irrelevant and incomplete.

Eircode, which cost €27m to set up, gives every home and business in the country its own seven-digit code and aims at reducing confusion surrounding non-unique addresses. These account for some 35pc of Irish addresses, particularly in rural areas where many homes just have the townland as its given address.

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos south west Nigeria today ordered the Nigerian Police Force to pay N100 million compensation to the family of a female lawyer Patricia Onyeabo who died in Police custody due to lack of medical care.

Nigerian woman cuts neighbour’s throat during argument


Helen Okeke has been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for allegedly killing her neighbour, identified only as Rose, in the Ikota, Ajah area of the state.
It was learnt that Okeke slit Rose’s throat after the duo reportedly had an argument over who poured urine on the latter’s clothes that were spread on the entrance door to her room.
 
It was gathered that Rose, who was reportedly getting ready for her wedding, had returned from work in the afternoon, and noticed a foul smell on the clothes spread on her door.

FG threatens to stop Sunday Oliseh’s unveiling as new Super Eagles head coach


The Federal government through the National Sports Commission (NSC) has threatened to stop the planned unveiling of Sunday Oliseh as the new head coach of Super Eagles by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) on Wednesday July 15th.

According to The Guardian, a letter was sent to NFF from the office of the NSC yesterday July 12th, stating that Sunday Oliseh's appointment as the new head coach for Super Eagles after Stephen Keshi's sack did not conform with the Procurement Act procedure for engagement.
