38 virgins killed in bus crash on their way to King of Swaziland's wife choosing ceremony



A road accident in Swaziland has killed 38 girls and seriously injured 20 others who were on their way to a traditional ceremony where King Mswati III can choose a new wife, pro-democracy activists reported.
The accident happened on Friday night when their open truck smashed into a car on the road between the tiny kingdom's two main cities, Mbabane and Manzini, en route to the traditional Reed Dance.

Daily Trust gathered yesterday that the lecturer disguised by wearing Hijab (veil) and attempted to sneak into the hostel before he was intercepted.

An Arizona man arrested on alleged possession of meth apparently liked the jail in Maricopa County so much that he didn't want to leave.
David Spurlock, 29, was released on Wednesday for the drug charges, but caused trouble when he refused to vacate the premises.

Nigeria-bound terror chief coming on invitation


According to a report by Daily Trust, wanted terrorist, Ahmed Al-Assir, who was arrested in Lebanon on his way to Nigeria, was coming on the invitation of a foreign company operating in the country.  Sources in Nigeria’s security circles, who spoke to Daily Trust on condition of anonymity, said the visa was issued by a Foreign Service official in Beirut based on that invitation.

A prominent Indian TV executive, Indrani Mukerjea was arrested on Wednesday August 26 in Mumbai and accused of murdering Sheena Bora, her daughter from an earlier marriage. Mukerjea, who is the wife of Peter Mukerjea, the former CEO of Star India, is accused of ordering her driver to kill Bora and of disposing of the body three years ago. Mukerjea and the driver were charged with kidnapping, murder and destroying the evidence.
According to Indian media, before to her death in 2012, Bora was dating Rahul, one of Peter Mukerjea's sons from his previous marriage, but that Peter Mukerjea did not know that Bora was his wife's child.

No injuries reported as flights resume at Dublin Airport after hangar fire



Flight operations have resumed at Dublin Airport after a fire broke out in a hangar.
No one was injured in the blaze which broke out in a maintenance facility at the airport shortly after 7am, forcing the runways to be closed.
Despite initial warnings that flights in and out of Dublin could be delayed by several hours, possibly up to midday, air traffic controllers were preparing to clear backlogs before 9am
The fire broke out in the roof of hangar three towards the rear of the airport grounds and it was contained in just over an hour.

Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency on Tuesday night stormed the headquarters of Arik Air in Ikeja Lagos following the arrest in London of a crew member of the airline for allegedly being in possession of cocaine.

The Arik crew member, identified by the anti-narcotics agency as Chika Egwu Udensi, was arrested on Monday night by operatives of the United Kingdom Border Force with 20 kilogrammes of cocaine in London.

Pit bull kills owner after she tried to save her mom from attack



A South Carolina woman has been killed by her pet pit bull after she stepped in to stop it attacking her mother.
Porsche 'Nicole' Cartee, 25, suffered fatal injuries to her head and body when she tried to fend off the dog.

Jamie Nelson, director of Spartanburg County Environmental Enforcement, said the attack occurred at a residence on Beverly Hills Drive. Nelson said the dog attacked three people.

Spartanburg County Coroner Rusty Clevenger said Porsche Nicole Cartee, was pronounced dead at the scene. Clevenger said statements from witnesses indicate Cartee suffered trauma to her body during the attack.

On Sunday, Clevenger said an examination revealed the cause of death to be dog bites to the head and body.

A man who scaled a wall of the White House 5 months ago was killed in a Pennsylvania courthouse on Tuesday after slashing a sheriff's deputy with a knife.
Curtis Smith, 33, entered the lobby of the Chester County Justice Center in West Chester shortly before noon, according to District Attorney Tom Hogan.
Gunshots rang out inside the courthouse at 201 W Market St. in West Chester, Pennsylvania around 11: 50 a.m. Tuesday after an armed man charged past metal detectors leading to a lockdown of the building.

Arik Air staff nabbed with cocaine at Hearthrow airport




A flight attendant with Arik Air was yesterday night arrested at Heathrow Airport, London for allegedly possessing 2.76 kilogramme of a substance suspected to be cocaine. The man has been identified as Chika Egwu Udensi. Spokesman of the airline, Mr. Ola Adebanji, in a statement released today, said the airline is presently investigating the matter.
