CSO numbers show rise in murders and kidnappings in Ireland

Latest statistics on recorded crime show an increase in the number of homicides.
The Central Statistics Office figures show there were 83 homicides in the year ending in the second quarter of this year.

That is up five on the same period last year.
The number of kidnappings and related offences rose by 31.
However, there was a decrease in the number of sexual crimes recorded, and a drop in the number of weapons and explosives offences.
