The bodies of a man and another unidentified person were recovered after the fire in Gort, Co Galway
Two people have been killed after a blaze broke out in a home in Co Galway overnight.
Multiple units of the fire brigade were alerted at 2.50am and spent hours battling the blaze at a home in the Tom O'Donnell's Flats on Railway Road in Gort before finally bringing it under their control.
The bodies, one of a 38-year-old man, were removed this morning to University Hospital Galway.
The scene has been sealed off for a technical examination and a post mortem is due later today.
Nobody else was injured in the incident.
Gardai have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the fire.
