Two British women - including a doctor - drown trying to rescue their children off holiday island

death

The female holidaymakers, Barathe Ravikumar, 39, and 42-year-old Uma Ramalingam (pictured) - a consultant obstetrician from Altrincham in Cheshire - were pronounced dead at the scene after getting into difficulty at the Playa Paraiso resort in the south west of the island.
A third woman survived along with two children, aged 10 and 14, after being pulled out of the water by rescuers. The group of five are understood to have been washed out to sea after a large wave knocked them from a rock.
