Omo Bello, Nigeria’s Only International Opera Singer Needs Your Votes!

Nigeria’s own Omo Bello has been nominated for France’s “Victoires de la
 Musique 2014” awards in the "Lyrical Revelation of the Year" category. 

This award is France’s equivalent of the Grammys Awards in America and recognizes outstanding contributions to the regional and global music industry!
The public gets to vote the winner of this award. So please go to

For those of you who don’t know her, 29 year-old Omo is Nigeria’s only classical 
soprano singer on the international opera scene who started from her university
 days in UNILAG by singing at MUSON during her spare time. She is of Edo and 
Igbo parentage. After she graduated with a degree in Cell Biology and Genetics from Unilag she got a scholarship to France and now holds Bachelors and Masters degrees from the prestigious Paris Conservatory of Music. 

Omo sings in English, French, Italian, Russian and German and has won the 1st 
Prize in the Luciano Pavarotti Giovani 2010 competition, and a famous critic called 
her “a talent of Gold!”
The shy, soft-spoken girl also won the 1st prize in the 2011 Anselmo Colzani
 international singing competition and was awarded with Italy’s prestigious 
international Arca d’Oro prize for young artists in 2013.

Omo has all this while never forgotten her motherland. From 2007, Omo has been performing at the OPERABUJA festival in Nigeria. She also gives charity concerts for medical research associations, and even sings in old people’s homes.....Because of this and more France has  granted her honorary citizenship.
