football' match where players can punch, kick and wrestle their way to victory
Calico Storico is an ancient form of football played each year in Florence, Italy, where teams of 27 try to get the ball to the opponents' goal 'by any means necessary'.
Wearing no gloves or protection, players are allowed to punch, kick, knee and wrestle one another in order to create an opening in the opposition defences big enough for a ball carrier to slip through and score. Games last for 50 minutes without stopping, even if players need to be stretchered off.
