US President swoops in as Western leaders meet to discuss Crimea
A US helicopter squadron (pictured) carrying Barack Obama advances to land on the 'Museumplein' in Amsterdam for the emergency summit to discuss how to punish Russia for annexing Ukraine's Crimea region.
Obama will chair the G7 summit in the Netherlands to tell Europe's leaders that more needs to be done to prevent the region from descending into all-out war. The move comes as heavily-armed Russian forces used stun grenades and machine guns to storm the last military base to fly the Ukrainian flag last night, taking more than 80 marines prisoner and bringing their haul of captured garrisons on the peninsular to 189.
