Man shot in the head near nursery during rush hour

A man in his 30s is in a critical condition after he was shot in the head near a creche in Dublin.
The attack took place during rush hour traffic at around 9am on the Holywell Avenue, Donaghmede.

It's understood the victim, who was known to Gardai and was warned his life was in danger, had been dropping a child off at the nursery when he was approached by a lone gunman and fired upon.
RTE has claimed that the man had been shot before and that he was an associate of slain Republican Alan Ryan.
He was being treated at the scene but he has now been taken by ambulance to Beaumont Hospital.
A Garda spokesman said: "Anyone with information is asked to contact Coolock Garda Station 01-6664200 or the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111."
