Irish woman tells how her life was "stopped in its tracks" after random attack

An Irish woman living in Australia has told how her life was “stopped in its tracks” after she was the victim of a “king hit”.

The random one-punch assaults have killed more than 90 people there since 2000 and although Louise Smith survived, she was still badly affected.
The 41-year-old, originally from Finglas, North Dublin, had her one-year-old baby on her hip when she was knocked unconscious in Melbourne.
Ms Smith said: “My only memory is of my seven-year-old daughter screaming as I went down.”
Her baby was unhurt but her 13-year-old daughter was knocked into a car while trying to pull the assailant away.
Ms Smith added: “She is getting psychiatric care. She’s not getting better.”
