John Westbrook said he was astonished when he saw the Renault Megane dripping as it was parked opposite a beach in the coastal town of Caorle in northern Italy, as temperatures hit 37C.
The 48-year-old taxi driver from Folkestone, Kent - who is on holiday with his wife Joanne and son Robbie - filmed the lights, wing mirrors and window fittings melting off the car during the heatwave. He said the car had been parked in direct sunlight by a beach for days on end, and couldn't believe his eyes when he saw parts of the car melting in the scorching heat.
