More than 200 migrants feared dead and 200 rescued

Boat packed with migrants sinks off coast of Libya with up to 200 feared dead

The first boat, which was carrying around 50 people, capsized early yesterday followed by the second which sank while overloaded with around 400 passengers.
The Libyan coastguard said it had rescued around 200 people and had worked overnight to search for survivors. Many in the second boat appeared to have been trapped in the hold when it capsized off the western coastal town of Zuwara.
