Carl Thompson (pictured last month, centre) has died at the age of 33. He had been confined to his home in Dover, Kent, for more than a year, relying on NHS carers to bathe him after becoming bed bound due to his 65 stone weight.
Mr Thompson previously told of how he turned to food as a means of coping with his grief following the death of his mother (inset with him as a teenager) in 2012. In May the 33-year-old (right, as a healthy boy aged around 10 and left, as a toddler) claimed he had always had a problem with food, and pleaded for professional help after being told by doctors his ill-health would kill him.
