The royal baby's here!
The Duchess of Cambridge has given birth to a baby girl, a sister for 20-month-old Prince George. The princess was born at the exclusive Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in Paddington 8.34am this morning, weighing 8lbs 3oz, with the Duke of Cambridge present for her birth.
Jubilant crowds who had been waiting outside the hospital, where Prince George was also born in 2013, celebrated as they received news that the Duchess (inset) had delivered a girl. Meanwhile, well-wishers queued up outside Buckingham Palace (top right) to catch a glimpse of the easel in the palace forecourt that bears a certificate, signed by Kate's medical team, confirming the princess's birth (left). Elsewhere, the Royal Navy paid tribute to the little princess by spelling out the word 'sister' in formation on board HMS Lancaster (right). Kate is now expected to spend one night in Kensington Palace with her new daughter and Prince George before retreating to Anmer Hall in Norfolk with Prince William and her parents.
