Angry pregnant mother kills boyfriend's 2-year-old son because he didn’t want to eat

An angry mother of two children killed her boyfriend’s son. 

Victalina Mendoza Cruz, who is 7 months pregnant, was charged in the death of her boyfriend’s 2-year-old son.


Cruz, 24, admitted to slapping the boy before throwing him to the ground and then leaving 
She did so because the boy did not want to eat, police said. 

Cruz was charged with serious bodily injury to a child after the child died.

The pregnant mother initially told investigators that she fed the child, put him in the bathtub and then went to feed her children. 

She claimed that when she returned 10 minutes later to check on the boy, she found him face down in the water.
She pulled him out, performed CPR and called police.

Prosecutors said that Cruz changed her story after a doctor who treated the boy at the hospital said that he was malnourished and showed obvious signs of abuse.

Cruz later told investigators that the child did not want to eat so she instructed him to take a bath. 

When the child began to cry, she pushed him, causing him to fall and hit his head against the master bedroom door frame. 

She admitted to slapping the child before putting him in the bathtub and leaving him there alone, according to court documents.

Cruz was released on $50,000 bail. She was ordered not to have contact with children under 18 years. Her children were placed in the custody of her parents. 

Prosecutors said that they will revisit the case as soon as Cruz gives birth to her baby.
