Lewis Daynes (right) phoned 999 to tell the operator he had killed 14-year-old Breck Bednar at his flat in Grays, Essex, instructing emergency services to 'send police and a forensics team'.
The 19-year-old then calmly confessed to killing the teenager whom he had met online. Police arrived at the scene to find the teenager's throat slashed, his limbs bound together with duct tape (inset). Speaking after her son's killer's sentencing, Lorin LaFave (left with Breck), said the tragedy could have been avoided by police.
