Oktay Kilic, 40, (top left) is accused of attacking Mark Berney, 44, (bottom left) with a 16cm blade after discovering the victim with Kilic's solicitor wife Kathleen in Ripley, North Yorkshire, on August 3 last year.
The court was told Mrs Kilic had told her husband she was meeting a client, only to pick up Mr Berney, an old school friend, and visit a pub (right) before heading to a nearby country lane, where they were discovered by Kilic, Leeds Crown Court heard.
