Android Asuna was a star attraction at Tokyo Designers' Week showcase earlier this month and she is one of a series of geminoids, as their inventor dubs them, that are ripe for commercialisation.
Hyper-human robots that can read the news (pictured) and act as receptionists have already been made. Their creators believe that within a decade fully independent androids will exist that can walk, talk and 'think' by themselves. Experts are also predicting that a future where people have sexual relationships with androids are not so far-fetched.
