Matthew McConaughey made an emotional speech paying tribute to his late father as he won the best actor award for his incredible performance in Dallas Buyers Club.
Cate Blanchett was named Best Actress for her role in Woody Allen's Blue Jasmine and made a witty speech in which she both praised and ribbed her fellow nominees and thanked director Woody Allen. Lupita Nyong'o made a tearful acceptance speech as she was named Best Supporting Actress for 12 Years a Slave which also took home the best film award. Jared Leto awarded Best Supporting Actor, also for Dallas Buyers Club, thanked his mother Constance, his date for the night.
