Schoolgirl, 15, "terrified" after being stabbed with broken Benylin bottle by two men

A schoolgirl was left terrified after being stabbed in the stomach by two men wielding a broken Benylin bottle.
The Wexford teen, 15, was due to sit her Junior Certificate mock examinations but is instead recovering at home.
The brutal assault occurred early on Saturday evening when the school girl left her home to walk to a neighbour’s house in the Clonard Village estate on the outskirts of the town.
The girl, who hasn’t been named, was approached by two Eastern European men in a small alleyway who asked her for a cigarette.
But when she responded that she didn’t have any one of the men in a rage ripped a bottle of Benylin cough medicine that the frightened teen was carrying and smashed it in half.
The men then pulled her top up and plunged the broken glass bottle into her stomach, causing three deep lacerations.
Her distraught mum said: “She was absolutely terrified and there was blood gushing out of where she was cut.
“Thankfully she did not suffer any serious internal damage, but this is still a very serious assault especially on a girl so young.”
The men are believed to have taken with them the part of the bottle used as a weapon.
However, the rest of the bottle was recovered from the scene and is being forensically examined.
The men have been described as being approximately 5 foot 8 inches in height and of medium build.
One was dressed entirely in black while the other wore a grey top and Adidas tracksuit.
The girl was unable to determine what colour hair they have because both had their hoods up.
They were both wearing camouflage coloured cowl neck scarves also.
