Irishman found guilty of murdering mother in Scotland

An Irishman has been found guilty of killing his mother in Scotland.

40-year-old James Seamus Dunleavy had denied killing Philomena Dunleavy from Marino in Dublin.
The 66-year-old's dismembered body was discovered in a shallow grave in an Edinburgh woodland. The jury at the High Court in Edinburgh heard harrowing evidence during James Dunleavy's eight day trial.
The 40-year-old, who's also known as Seamus, had pleaded not guilty to the charge of murdering his mother at his apartment on Balgreen Road in the city. The 66-year-old mother of five had been in Scotland to visit her son.
Her dismembered and beheaded body was found in a makeshift grave in a wooded area in a park close to James Dunleavy's home.
At first police believed she was from Eastern Europe, but her Claddagh ring eventually focused the international investigation on Ireland.
The jury convicted James Dunleavy, by majority, of a reduced charge of culpable homicide and found him guilty of the attempted cover-up.
He made no reaction when the verdict was read out.
