Nurses vote to take industrial action over staff shortages at Dublin hospital

Nurses who are members of the Psychiatric Nurses Association have voted in favour of industrial action at St Ita's Hospital in Portrane, north Dublin.

It is in protest at staff shortages at St. Joseph's Intellectual Disability services within the facility.
The action, which will take place on a phased basis, will start on Friday August 21 and could include a strike.
The HSE has said an EU-wide shortage of nursing and social care staff is making it difficult to recruit personnel to fill shortages across Irish health facilities.
Liam Doran from the Irish Nurses and Midwives Organisation, said there is lack of nurses across Europe, but enough are being trained in Ireland.
