Shocking pictures show Filipino children sifting through rivers of rubbish

Philippines children risk their lives sifting through floating rubbish

Filipino children swim in a river at Navotas city, north of Manila, where they risk death and disease scavenging for materials they can recycle to earn £2 a day.
Families living in the nearby slums are some of the poorest in the world, with both adults and children reduced to going through garbage for the quantities of recyclable materials needed to make a living.
