Anti-austerity protesters turned on millionaire comedian Russell Brand
The millionaire comedian, 40, briefly had to be held back in the VIP area on Parliament Square, pictured centre, as a group screamed 'f*** off back to Miliband' - a reference to his backing of Labour at the general election.
Brand was targeted as he prepared to speak to thousands of people who marched through central London on Saturday in opposition to Government cuts. But as he waited backstage, left, a group just feet away began hurling abuse at him. One woman screamed: 'F*** you Russell. I hate you. He should not be on the stage here. Ask how much he has been paid to be here'. A friend then yelled: 'You're a turncoat Brand. Sell me a book on revolution and then tell us to vote Labour. F*** off back to Miliband'. After a speech where he claimed it was his fault the Tories won the election, the star left via a back exit and was seen sprinting down a closed-off street before jumping in to a waiting car, right.
