Hours after defeated Miliband and Clegg resign
Ed Miliband today stood shoulder-to-shoulder with David Cameron and Nick Clegg to remember Britain's war dead - in his final act as Labour leader after their election disaster.
Clutching wreathes of poppies the political leaders were remembering the sacrifice made by millions of soldiers who died to defeat Fascism and ensure democracy in Britain today is possible. Mr Miliband was forced to stand at the Cenotaph with the two people who ended his leadership - David Cameron and Nicola Sturgeon, far left - as the 70th anniversary of VE Day was commemorated. It came hours after Mr Miliband announced he was quitting as leader after calling the Prime Minister to congratulate him on his extraordinary victory in a bruising general election battle . After gaining 331 seats David Cameron has declared he will form a Tory government after routing Labour and the Lib Dems in the biggest electoral shock in living memory.
