Althea Harper, 51, from Farnborough, Hampshire contracted life-threatening legionnaire's disease while on holiday in Italy in 2010.
The planned happy week in Tuscany was to leave Alethea in intensive care for months – and doctors were forced to amputate her left hand, both legs just below the knee, as they had gangrene, and some fingers on her right hand.
