Mother in agonising pain crawl on her hands and knees to beg for painkillers. Three days later she was dead
The family of Margaret Lamberty (left and top right) are preparing to take legal action against University Hospital of North Staffordshire (bottom right), claiming medics 'abandoned' the 45-year-old, failing to carry out the proper tests to detect a suspected blood clot they say caused multiple organ failure.
Mrs Lamberty, a mother-of-four, was admitted to the hospital on April 27 with severe stomach pains. Her family say she had a history of blood clots but said doctors ignored their concerns. Her daughter Laura Lamberty, 28, said: 'She was abandoned in a side room while she died in agonising pain. We are determined to get justice for mum and find out the truth about what happened. No one should go through what she did.' She claims her mother was left to lie in blood-stained sheets and had to crawl to beg for painkillers after her cries for help went unheard. The hospital has offered its 'sincere condolences' to Mrs Lamberty's family.
