Lin Dajun, 40, reportedly built a secret lair beneath his home in Deyang in China's Sichuan region after his first and second wives left him. He then lured his first wife, Lin Yan, to the house for a 'chat' - before chaining her up in the cellar, it is claimed.
However, the captive was eventually saved (main) after local officials (inset) carried out a routine census check in the town of Ba Jiaojing. Lin has now been detained by Chinese police and is facing kidnapping and unlawful imprisonment charges.
