Leonard Webb, 68, (top) who was a member of the Royal Artillery, has been accused of murdering 64-year-old Doreen Webb (bottom), after her body was discovered at their home in Durrington, Wiltshire, on Friday afternoon.
Webb is due before Chippenham Magistrates' Court tomorrow. Stunned neighbour Fred Martin - who served with Len in the Army - said he 'was a commissioned officer' he knew 'very well'. Police would not confirm the relationship between the pair, but it is believed they had lived together in the suburban home for around 30 years.
