A husband and wife were killed in a horror car smash this evening which left their son clings to life in hospital.
The couple, in their 60s, was travelling with their son, in his 20s, on the N52 Nenagh to Borrisokane Rd in Tipperary.
Their car was involved in a collision with another car being driven by a woman in her 30s at around half five.
The couple was pronounced dead at the scene while the young man was seriously injured and was being treated at the Midwest Regional Hospital in Limerick.
The woman driving the other car was uninjured.
The stretch of road was closed for a examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions were put in place.
It remains closed overnight.
Gardai were appealing for witnesses to this collision last night and are urging anyone who saw anything to call Nenagh Garda Station on 067-50450, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
