50 mms of rain and storm-force winds on way after brief respite

It seems it's not safe to put the sand bags away just yet.

Met Eireann's Eoin Sherlock has said that up to 50 millimetres of rain will fall tomorrow and further stormy conditions will batter the country in the coming days.
"Another weather system is going to push into the south-west of the country on Tuesday afternoon," he said.
"That's going to bring a return to very wet and extremely windy conditions, with very heavy rainfall and very strong to near-gale force south to south-east winds.
"Again, we have all the ingredients here for the risk of coastal flooding. Primarily the south and the east coast will be at risk."
