British Airways jet that caught fire in Vegas
Close-up pictures of the British Airways plane that caught fire in Las Vegas yesterday appear to show that one side of the engine exploded (left) before belching burning fuel over the wing and fuselage.
The casing of the engine appears damaged on only one side, with the metal bent outwards, suggesting it blew open towards the aircraft, spraying the plane with shrapnel. Around 14 people had to be taken to hospital after the incident yesterday, which saw the plane catching fire on the runway (inset) as it prepared to take off.
