Naked man on tracks halts DART services for commuters

DART trains

Train commuters faced delays yesterday evening after a naked man was spotted on railway tracks in south Dublin.

Services for DART users were halted for approximately 40 minutes as the man initially refused to get off the tracks.

The incident occurred at Seapoint station at approximately 715pm last night.
After the man made his way to the platform, Irish Rail made the decision to keep services stopped for fear he would get on to the tracks again.
A off-duty garda was travelling on the train that was stopped between stations at the time of the incident.
A spokesperson for Irish Rail told independent.ie that the garda assisted the railway staff until gardai arrived at the scene.
The naked man was offered an orange high visibility jacket to cover himself while staff waited for the gardai to arrive.
