Swiss police arrest six FIFA executives including vice president over allegations of taking more than £65m in bribes

FIFA executives arrested in Switzerland face extradition to US over corruption charges

Swiss police today raided the five-star Baur au Lac hotel in Zurich, Switzerland (pictured centre), making at least six arrests.
FIFA vice president Jeffrey Webb (top right) and senior figures Eugenio Figueredo (bottom right), Jack Warner (top left), Eduardo Li (bottom left), Julio Rocha, Costas Takkas, Rafael Esquivel, José Maria Marin and Nicolás Leoz are believed to be among those held and now face extradition to the United States. The Swiss authorities (pictured, inset, inside the hotel) allege the arrested men have taken more than £65million ($100million) in 'bribes and kick-backs' over 25 years in return for FIFA sponsorship deals. FIFA's top brass are in Switzerland for the FIFA congress and presidential election, where Sepp Blatter is widely expected to win a fifth term at the helm of the governing body of world football. Blatter was not among the men arrested.
