Popular Nollywood actor was brought down by a stray bullet in Asaba, Delta State, yesterday afternoon, 14th October.
The sad incident was said to have occurred when armed robbers who robbed a banking van along Summit Express, were engaged in a hot exchange of gunfire with the state police.
According to an eyewitness who spoke with SaharaReporters, a bullion van carrying huge sum of cash was ambushed around 2pm by unidentified armed robbers. The group of gunmen came in Jeep and Sienna autos. However, the police escort defended the van, forcing the attackers to retreat. They took their wounded colleague with them.
The armed robbers have allegedly killed an officer from the police escort, which has been, however, denied by the Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of Delta State Police, Celestina Kalu. At the same time, the PPRO confirmed that a passer-by was shot dead by a stray bullet.
The 37-year-old actor was however hit by one of the bullets. He was returning from a filming location.
