13 & 14 Year-Old Teenagers Arrested In Benin For Obtaining Money Through Threat


Two teenagers (names withheld), have been arrested by the police in Benin, Edo state, for allegedly obtainingmoney from several persons through threat messages.

One of the teenagers, a female who allegedly obtained the sum of N300,000 through such means, was said to have used part of the money to purchase a bicycle while her partner in crime was said to have been planning a birthday party with the proceed before they were arrested.


The suspects whose ages were given as 13 and 14 years respectively were said to have threatened to kidnap and kill a business man and his two children based in Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State, if he refused to pay the sum of N300, 000.

Following the threat, the victim reportedly relocated from Ekpoma but the threat messages persisted which made him to pay the ransom.

Emboldened by the money they previously collected, the teenagers also sent the account details of one of their mothers to a doctor asking him to pay an undisclosed sum of money or be kidnapped.

Luck however ran out of them when they were arrested through covet intelligence who traced them through the bank account details.


A top police source who confirmed the arrest of the teenagers said they would be thoroughly investigated to unravel a possible sponsor.
