Who is the woman in black?

A mysterious figure dubbed 'the woman in black'(pictured) who is walking alone across America has captured national attention.
Dressed in a dark, floor-length robe and carrying black luggage, the woman has already traipsed from Georgia to Ohio (map pictured) and keeps to herself. No-one knows why she is walking, but speculation is rife online that she is on a religious mission. A Facebook page has been created which tracks her movements and shares photos of her journey.
