Amalaha was tested after winning gold in the 53-kilogram division (117 pounds), beating Papua New Guinea’s Dika Toua and India’s Santoshi Matsa.

Nigerian female weightlifting gold medalist Chika Amalaha failed an in-competition doping test at the Commonwealth Games, reports the Associated Press.
Amalaha, 16, won the first gold medal for her country at the Commonwealth Games, which are being held in Glasgow, Scotland.

Commonwealth Games Federation chief executive Mike Hooper said that Amalaha has been suspended from the Commonwealth Games after providing an “A” sample on July 25 which tested positive for diuretics and masking agents. Her “B” sample will be tested on Wednesday.
If Amalaha tests positive again tomorrow, she will lose her gold medal, which she won by lifting 85kg in the Snatch and 111kg in the Clean and Jerk to set a new Commonwealth Games record total of 196kg.
