Suárez was playing for Uruguay in the closing minutes of the group stage clash when footage appeared to show him biting Italy defender Giorgio Chiellini.
Live footage of the match in Natal's Arena das Dunas showed the controversial Uruguayan forward's mouth colliding with Chiellini's shoulder (left) before an outraged Chiellini hit the floor and clutched his shoulder (top right) - with Suarez clutching his teeth (bottom right). Just 14 months ago Suárez apologised for biting Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic in a 2-2 draw between Liverpool and Chelsea.
