Reported racist attacks 'up by 114% in six months'

The Immigrant Council of Ireland has said a more "integrated" response is needed in order to reduce the number of racist incidents across the country.

According to new research to be published this morning, the number of reported incidents increased by 114% in the first six months of this year.
The Lord Mayor of Dublin Christy Burke is launching a new campaign in the city this morning to tackle the issue.
Chief executive of the Immigrant Council of Ireland Denise Charlton said: "The increase of 114% in the last six months shows people feel more confident in coming forward…but we still need a much more integrated response to provide the right protection and access to services."Culled
