Irish novelist and playwright, Dermot Healy, has died at the age of 66.
His works included Banished Misfortune, The Bend for Home and Fighting with Shadows and was admired by fellow writers such Seamus Heaney, Eugene McCabe and Roddy Doyle.
Born in Finea, Co Westmeath, Mr Healy spent his childhood in Cavan town. He later moved to London, before returning to Ireland to live by the sea in Ballyconnell, north Sligo.
Booker Prize-winning author Roddy Doyle described him as "Ireland's greatest writer".
Mr Healy is survived by his wife Helen and two children.
