Sally Evans says her son Thomas, pictured, who went to Somalia in 2011, has joined the terrorist organisation al-Shabaab, which is thought to be linked to al Qaeda.
He converted to Islam at the age of 19 despite having a normal upbringing in a semi-detached house. When he calls her, she tells the police what they have talked about and hopes the information she shares will help them prevent other young men from becoming a jihadist
