Carl Wenz, of Harlow, Essex, was in the stands at England's opening match with Italy on Saturday when this image of him holding his mobile phone as he chatted to a female Brazilian fan was aired across the world.
Friend Jonathan Greig later said he had spoken to Mr Wenz, who claimed he was simply showing the Brazilian fan a photo on his mobile phone and was not 'chatting her up' or asking for her mobile number.
