U.S. woman gives birth to rare 'mono mono' twins
Amanda Arnold (top right) gave birth to 'mono mono' twin girls on Thursday - at a U.S. clinic.
Not only did the twin girls - JaNiya and Amaya McCail - share a placenta while in the womb, but also an amniotic sac. Just last week Sarah Thistlethwaite (bottom right) also gave birth to mono mono twin at the Akron General Medical Center in Ohio. Surgeons have described the coincidence as 'almost a statistical impossibility'. The pair of safe births are particularly remarkable because mono mono twins are particularly at risk during the pregnancy.
