Pair escape empty-handed after failed attempt to raid Dublin petrol station

A man and a woman are due in court today in connection with an attempted raid at a petrol station in Dublin last night.

The incident happened at around 9pm when two raiders armed with knives and wearing balaclavas threatened staff and demanded cash in the premises on Ushers Quay.
They fled the scene empty-handed.
A short time later officers in a patrol car spotted a man and woman in their 30s on Thomas Street.
Both suspects were arrested and knives were recovered.
They were brought to Kevin Street Garda Station for questioning and are due in court later this morning.
