Samantha Charlton, 40, was sleeping at her house in Sunderland when her husband Michael, 43, returned home drunk and tried to strangle her with a silk scarf.
Charlton told her he was sorry, but he wanted rid of her. She managed to flee the house and her husband has now been jailed for two years and eight months at Newcastle Crown Court. But despite being sent to prison she's said to be standing by his side even though he was previously convicted for attacking his ex-wife.
